The annual Oscars awards ceremony just passed and it was a who’s who of celebrities. Aside from paying attention to the winning stars, everyone was looking at what they wore. The best-dressed and worst-dressed Oscar lists can influence the way directors and audiences see a celeb, so it’s no doubt that making the right impression is key. As for making a good impression, it’s never just done with the dress alone. A messy hairdo or an over indulgence in jewelry can sufficiently ruin a would-be prefect look!

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Is this the year of Jennifer Lawrence? Starting with last year’s “Hunger Games” she broke onto the scene and hasn’t looked back since. Her style is unpredictable, her film choices are totally diverse and her love life is a mystery — yes, she is definitely having a Hollywood moment.

Her pale pink Christian Dior Couture collection dress looked sweet and sophisticated on the petite Oscar winner. It was her elegant diamond drop earrings, long backwards necklace and pretty hairdo that sealed the deal. Jennifer Lawrence won for best actress, and according to us, she wins for best jewelry on the red carpet.

2. Jennifer Garner

Ben Affleck called Jennifer Garner “the most beautiful woman” and he’s right. The second Jennifer on our list wore a stunning ruffled purple Gucci gown, purple open-toe shoes and pretty jewelry that had a very feminine feel. Her tear-shaped earrings and stunning matching tear-shaped and flower motif diamond necklace added that extra bit of sparkle to Jennifer’s look.

So which accessory complimented her look best? Her husband Ben, who looked dashing with a well-fitting suit and beard.

3. Jennifer Aniston

Wait a second, we’re sensing a theme here. Did every Jennifer in Hollywood just happen to don the most exquisite jewelry at the Oscars? Seems like it. This Jennifer, unfortunately, did not wear our favorite dress of the night. Jen is pretty picky when it comes to appearances. She hasn’t been to the Academy Awards in four years! It seems that her fiance, Justin Theroux brought her a dose of confidence, and thus she made her comeback.

Jen wore a red Valentino gown, which was a major departure from Jen’s usual dark-toned dresses. Her hair was a bit on the boring side, after all we’ve seen Jen with the straight do at every single appearance. The best part of her look was her jewels. She didn’t wear a statement necklace, but she did wear gorgeous chandelier earrings that stood out when paired with the bright dress.

4. Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart may well be the biggest noisemaker in recent times. Her “Snow White and the Huntsman” disaster sent a lot of attention her way. Kristen already seems a bit spotlight shy and sullen, and her cheating scandal really made her a target in the eyes of the paparazzi.

Luckily, she showed up to the 2013 Academy awards in a gorgeous dress. The shimmering pale blush strapless Reem Acra couture gown with pleated tulle inserts and hand beading was really pretty on her. Her simple, yet classic gold tennis necklace was a well-selected and understated piece.

Kristen looked great from the neck down. So, what went wrong? Well for one, her hair was a bit of a mess. She put little to no effort into styling it. The messy bed head looked out of place with the glamorous gown and jewels. Her makeup was blah as well. It seems that Kristen will always be Kristen, a bit of a tomboy and anti-glam celebrity. We hope for her sake though she grows up a little bit and embraces her celebrity status.

And for all those that were concerned with her crutches, though they may seem like an odd choice for a ceremony, who cares? She needed them to walk and we’re glad she made it instead of cancelling for a minor injury.

5. Anne Hathaway

Ms. Catwoman herself took off the dark leather catsuit and the rags from her Les Miserables role as Fantine and put on a pale pink column-shaped Prada gown. As it turns out, the dress (which was dogged by fashion critics) was not her first choice. Anne was originally going to wear a lacy Valentino dress. Valentino has been her designer of choice for many years, including making Anne’s wedding gown. She changed her gown at the last minute when she found out that another big star was going to wear a very similar dress.

The dress was a bit of a dud, even though we love Anne and are ecstatic she got the Oscar for her heart-wrenching portrayal of a down-trodden French woman. Anne did manage to stay within the big trend of the evening: pale-hued dresses. Her jewelry on the other hand was great. She wore a backwards necklace (another hot Oscars trend), square cushioned diamond earrings and a pretty multi-row diamond bracelet.
